This exhibit and its associated lectures focus on the American Civil War (1861-65) as it impacted North Louisiana. Curated by Dr. Gary Joiner, Civil War expert and head of history/social sciences at LSU-Shreveport, the display features artifacts, memorabilia, documents, and more than a dozen large maps of the period that transformed the U.S. and the South. Of special focus are the Vicksburg campaign and the Red River campaign which both scarred the North Louisiana region. Several lectures are planned: Aug. 12, "The Louisiana 31st Infantry Regiment" by Kevin Adkins; Aug. 19, "The Vicksburg Campaign" by Terry Winschel; Aug. 26, "The Red River Campaign" by Gary Joiner; Sept. 16, "The Louisiana Tigers" by Terry Jones.
