Ruston Artisans is pleased to provide a Culinary Art Event. Event Description: What's brewing? Beer! At this event, Ruston local Jean Gourd will introduce various styles of beer and discuss how craft beer is made "From Grain to Glass." While doing so, you will have the chance to sample some of Jean's current homebrewed beers, ranging from a light lager and blonde ale, to a more robust Belgian Dubbel and double chocolate stout. Various Belgian sour beers that have aged in a French oak barrel obtained from Landry Vineyards (a local winery) for over three years will also be served, along with knick-knacks to help cleanse the palate. Instructor: Jean Gourd Jean Gourd, a Computer Science professor at Louisiana Tech University, has been regularly homebrewing beer since 2008. As it often does with a lot of homebrewers, this addictive hobby started out modestly and has grown significantly over the years. To date, Jean has brewed 171 different batches of beer (that's almost 1,200 gallons)! Although he has brewed beers from various regions throughout the world, his current favorite styles (both to brew and drink) are Belgian Dubbel, American West Coast IPA, and German Rauchbier (a dark, smoked beer). Event Cost: $25 per person For more information, contact Monique Gourd at 601-299-1017 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
