LA. FISCAL CLIFF: Louisiana Lawmakers adjourned from their special session last week after passing a state budget, But will they have to return to Baton Rouge for yet another special session to deal with next year’s fiscal cliff? Governor John Bel Edwards isn’t so sure as he explained during his recent press conference at the conclusion of the Special Session Friday. The House Speaker Taylor Barras suggested that comprehensive tax reform would require more than a 60-day session to resolve. Whereas the Governor felt the tax reform task force had already laid the groundwork for faster approvals. In the meantime, Governor Edwards will take a “wait and see” approach to see what committees come up with before he’ll call another special session.
