Immediately after a woman got out of her car at a Union Parish convenience store 31-year-old Gregory Mitchell allegedly got in and sped off. The woman had her one-year-old in the back seat and called the police as soon as it happened.

Marion Police Chief Mark Dodd says a he received a call from a frantic mother in the morning about a kidnapping and theft. Dodd then began investigating at the rehab facility for drug and alcohol addicts that the suspect just left.

Dodd says while he was investigating at the facility the woman called again to inform him that Mitchell had brought the child back unharmed. Dodd says this was one of the few times the case turned out alright and no one was injured. Gregory has been jailed.
