Christmas Comes to the Bayou

'Twas the Night Before a Cajun Christmas is an original ballet, created by Artistic Director, Missy Crain.

Friday night, December 16th the Monroe Civic Center will be filled for the annual Louisiana Delta Ballet Christmas Gala. This year's ballet is 'Twas the Night Before a Cajun Christmas, a Southern take on the classic holiday story.

In this re-imagined story, Santa faces a swamp witch when he stops his new sleigh in New Orleans. Santa will have to work with frogs, alligators, lightning bugs, and crawfish, along with other bayou creatures to bring a happy ending to this Christmas season.

Jeanine Patton from the Louisiana Delta Ballet's board of directors, cannot wait for this ballet. She believes that,"(the ballet) is a state of the art light show, something you would see in the larger cities of the country." This opinion could also be shared by the around 10,000 elementary school kids that take field trips to see the show throughout the week.

The show begins at 7:30 p.m. on Friday night with a Cajun band playing in the lobby before at 6:30 p.m. More information on the ballet can be found here.
