Bash at OPPL Main Branch Saturday from 10-2

Tricky weather won't stop the treats at the Ouachita Parish Public Library's 26th Annual Pumpkin Bash.

Saturday's event takes place inside the Main Branch in Monroe.  "We start at 10 a.m.  with fun for the whole family.  We'll have special book characters, including Biscuit, whom the kids will recognize and love," says library director Robin Toms.

Strauss Youth Academy For The Arts performs Broadway battle that morning, and a caricaturist will be on hand for kids and adults.  Puppet shows and storytelling is featured throughout the day.  A costume contest is set for the afternoon, with trophies awarded for different age groups.

Toms says the bash is one of the most-popular events on the library's calendar.  "It is an opportunity for good, quality family time.  It also gives us the chance to show the many services the library has to offer for each family member," she said.

The bash runs from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.  Information online at: oplib.org
