Starr Homeplace present their last Community Day of the season this Saturday October 8th. Community Days allow the people of Northeast Louisiana to come together and enjoy the outdoors and reflect on a simpler time of life.
This Community Day is closing out the season with black smith and wood shop demonstrations, a printing shop, a gris mill, a bookshop and book sale, and many arts and crafts from various vendors. There will be handmade quilts, homemade candies, and canned goods, like jellies and jams, available also. Tim Anderson will be in the wood shop working on his sail boat model and using the saw collection to fashion items.
The Community Days also works closely with 19 museums available for viewing. Museum admission fee is $5.00 for adults, free for children under 12.
The event starts at 8 A.M. and goes on until 3 P.M.. A gumbo lunch will be sold, but visitors are free to bring a picnic instead. Visitors are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes and bring a lawn chair. More information on Starr Homeplace and Community Day can be found here.
