Deborah Drive and River Oaks Area Closed to Traffic

According to the City of Monroe, until further notice, residents will not be allowed to drive in the River Oaks/Deborah Drive area due to flooding.

The use of vehicles is causing water to be pushed into homes due to wake. Families evacuating the area will not be allowed back into the neighborhood.

Public Safety officials are posted at both ends of the area to help facilitate any necessary transportation in the area. Residents are urged to call 9-1-1 for assistance evacuating. First responders are utilizing boats to access affected area around the parish.

Citizens are also urged not use ATVs, trucks, or any other vehicle on any levees in the area. The levees are highly saturated, and vehicle use could compromise structural integrity.
