"It's a fun way to enjoy date night but also give back to the community."

Do Good Date Night offers a chance to give back to the community while also having fun. Attendees spend about an hour working in the Food Bank warehouse completing a service project. Afterward, guests enjoy food from RoeLA Roaster and sip beverages while playing trivia. The event also features a chance to win prizes in a raffle including dinner for two, spa services, and more.

"We don't believe that anyone in our community should go hungry."

"Feeding people in our community is an on-going effort," says Sarah Hoffman of the Food Bank of NELA. "People go through different life changes, and they need help." The organization serves a 12-parish region in Northeast Louisiana. According to Hoffman, 1 in 5 people in this region suffer from hunger.

"All of the Food Bank's programs are done by income qualifications except for our Backpacks for Kids program," says Hoffman. "Those children are chosen by the teachers, who know that they're at risk for not having food in the house."

"We really try to get the food into the hands of the people who need it most."

For every $10 donated, the Food Bank can secure about 55 meals. Hoffman compares it the price of coffee, pointing out that for $5, you can feed a child for up to nine days. "When you look at children, especially young children whose bodies and minds are forming, you see that they can't reach their full potential if they're not getting enough to eat."

More information about the Food Bank is available here. Do Good Date Night is Friday, April 6 from 5-6 p.m. at the Food Bank of Northeast Louisiana. This event is for ages 21 and older. The cost is $15, and tickets are available here or at 318-322-3567.
