The National Flood Insurance Program, which provides flood insurance for thousands of Louisiana residents expires next Friday on December 8th. U.S. Senator John Kennedy is hopeful Congress can renew the N-F-I-P without raising premiums, so flood insurance becomes unaffordable.
The program was 24-billion-dollars in debt before Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, Maria and Nate struck the U.S. this year. Kennedy says being in the hole that much is unacceptable.
Kennedy says he can find money to help with the huge debt load. They simply need to lower the private insurance company administration fees.
