Flooding Hits Grambling Campus

Heavy rains and thunderstorms caused some flooding at Grambling State University Monday.
GSU Media Relations spokesperson Suzanne Douglas says fast-rising waters crept into some halls on campus.  "They have issued the closing of several buildings on campus because of flooding, mainly Woodson Hall," she said.
Several low-lying areas could not keep up with the heavy downpour from this morning’s storms.  She says emergency vehicles were brought in to pump water from those buildings taking on floodwater.  "The university is very cautionary.  They have brought in trucks to suction out the water.  We don't know the extent of damage at this point," said Douglas.
Officials continue to monitor the situation and hope to begin to assess damage later today.
