The Delta Regional Authority (DRA), through a program partnership with the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA), has announced a $188,625 investment to provide a new fuel farm for the Tensas Parish Airport. DRA is investing $170,000 in the project, with the remainder coming from the parish police jury.
“The DRA understands – as do I – the vital impact that rural aviation has on the economic well-being of Louisiana. Our farmers depend on it greatly,” said Dr. Ralph Abraham. “Our small cities and towns use the income from rural aviation to enhance their communities and infrastructure. Plus, what a great message it sends to visitors to our state that they can fly to and land in Tensas Parish, spend time with friends and family, and refuel right at the airport for the trip home. I appreciate the DRA for funding this project and investing in Louisiana.”
The investment will support land purchase, site development and installation of two 5,000 gallon double-wall fuel tanks with dispensers, installation of a card reader and area lighting for security and safety. The new fuel farm will support further development of the Tensas Parish Port on the Mississippi River.
