A young girl has drowned in the Ouachita River off of a West Monroe park.
West Monroe Police Sgt. C.J. Beck says one girl drowned and another was rescued by a passing boater on Thursday evening along Lazarre Park.
Beck says four girls initially were in the water, and two made it to shore. The third girl was rescued by a passing boater, but the fourth girl went under the water.
Authorities, including a dive team, responded to recover the girl's body.
Police have not released the deceased girl's age or identity.
