KEDM Meteorologist Jarod Floyd explained the system will produce scattered rainfall amounts.

"The Monroe area could see 2 to 4 inches of rain and it could get messy," Floyd said.

Rainfall amounts of up to 10 inches are expected in south Louisiana.

Ouachita Parish GOHSEP Director Neal Brown said the worst part of the storm will not hit us.

"We are standing by to help our partners to the south." said Brown. He explained all usual precautions have been taken and sandbags will be available if needed.

The declaration will give the Governor's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness authority to respond to emergency situations.

The State of Emergency will continue until September 10.
