The weather is becoming hot and with that comes nice refreshing glasses of lemonade. In honor of Louisiana's " Lemonade Day", Children get to learn how to make an ice cold glass of lemonade and market it at the governor's mansion.

"Lemonade Day," is an initiative  for Louisiana youth to  become business leaders, social advocates, community volunteers and forward-thinking citizens of the future. The educational program teaches children how to run, own and manage a business. The two day event, hosted by Gov. John Bel Edwards and Louisiana State University head coach Coach Ed Orgeron, was created by entrepreneurs John Georges (CEO of Georges Enterprises) and Todd Graves (Founder, CEO, Fry Cook & Cashier of Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers).

“It’s never too early to encourage our children to begin thinking about entrepreneurship and Lemonade Day is the perfect opportunity to do just that,” said Gov. Edwards. He, his wife and Coach Orgeron are excited to host the state's youth from the Big Buddy program and working with Raising Cane’s to make the event happen. "These are our future business owners and job creators, and we should do all that we can to give them a great start," said Edwards.

Edwards proclaimed that the official Lemonade Day will be Saturday, May 5. This is the eighth consecutive designation of Lemonade Day since the program was brought to the state in 2010.

In addition to Edwards’ proclamation, Monroe Mayor James E. Mayo, Lake Charles Mayor Randy Roach, Baton Rouge Mayor Sharon Weston Broome, Lafayette Mayor Joel Robideaux, New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu, Thibodaux Mayor Tommy Eschete, Shreveport Mayor Ollie Tyler, and a number of other elected officials, community and business leaders have issued resolutions, proclamations, and certificates regarding this year's Lemonade Day Louisiana.
