It's A Party In The 318

Masur Musem
Masur Museum of Art is located on 1400 South Grand Street in Monroe

The Masur Museum of Art invites the community for an evening of relaxation at its bi-annual  "pARTy 318" event on Thursday, May 19.

"Everything is free with the exception of food," said Evie Stuart, director of the Masur Museum of Art. "We will also have some art vendors there as well so I'm sure everyone will find something they like."

Stuart says attendees will have plenty of food options to choose from. Three food trucks will be on location with foods ranging from barbecue to Indian cuisine.

But Ben Hickey says it wouldn't be a party without games.

"There's some pretty intense hungry, hungry hippo games that happen," said Hickey, curator of collections and exhibitions. "We have cards and we're rolling out a huge checker board."

DJ Beep Bop will be in the midst, keeping the atmosphere light and free with a variety of musical tunes.

"We're also going to have a local artist there doing a live demonstration of his work," Stuart said.

Masur's current exhibition features contemporary art from 71 artists and 38 states, and will be on display during the event as well.

The Masur Museum is located in a historic home that was built in 1929. It was donated to Monroe in 1963 as a fine arts museum.

pARTY 318 is taking place at Masur's museum, located at 1400 South Grand Street in Monroe. It starts at 5:30 p.m. and ends at 8:30 p.m.
