Coastal Desk reporter, Tegan Wendland, kayaks in Maurepas swamp in 2016. Join her for a tour of Bayou St. John!

Join WWNO’s Coastal Desk for a kayak tour of Bayou St. John! The free, 2-hour Sunday paddle will explore the ecosystem of south Louisiana through the lens of this urban bayou, which has played a critical role in the history of the city.

No experience is required and all kayaks and equipment will be included. The event is 11:00 a.m. Sunday, April23rd. There are only 20 spots available, so please RSVP as soon as possible. We'll have a picnic lunch, so bring your own food and maybe something to share! Also, if you have your own kayak or canoe, feel free to join. We will meet at the Shell gas station at 3494 Esplanade Ave.

To RSVP, email the following information to info@kayakitiyat.com

·      Name, email address and cellphone # - reference "WWNO tour"

·      Approximate height and weight of each participant (so the outfitter can provide an appropriate kayak)

·      A signed waiver, which will be sent to you when you RSVP

·      There is no charge to attend but those cancelling within 24 hours of the event will be charged a cancelation fee of $10

If you have questions about the tour, email Tegan Wendland at tegan@wwno.org. Rain date is May13th.
