The Ouachita Parish Public Library presents its Summer Reading Challenge Saturday.

Patrons are encouraged to attend the challenge event from noon until 2 p.m. at any library branch. OPPL Public Relation Coordinator/Main Branch Manager Holly Priestley says readers of all ages are welcome to attend.  "We want everyone to stop by read a few pages from a book or magazine and help reach our goal.  We'll have free hot dogs and drinks for participants," said Priestley.

Patrons will log pages read onto slips of paper to track the total.

The library system hopes to record 15,000 pages read during the challenge.  Preistley says its a great way to close the summer reading programs.  "The session also provides a great refresher for school children as they prepare to go back to school in a few weeks," she said.
