Louisiana Purchase Zoo's Easter Eggstravaganza

The Eggstravaganza has been going on for the past 20 years.

Saturday April 15th, the Louisiana Purchase Gardens and Zoo will be holding its Easter Eggstravaganza. Gates open at 10:00 a.m. that morning, and the Easter egg hunts start at 11:00 a.m.

The Easter Eggstravaganza is one of the zoo's biggest events of the year. Director of the zoo, Joe Clawson, shares that, "The event is to raise money, but it is also to share with the community what's been going on at the zoo. We're really proud of what the staff has accomplished."

Saturday the zoo will hold over 20,000 eggs with a prize inside each one. The egg hunts will be broken up into age ranges so that every kid can have fun and leave with eggs. The First United Methodist Church of Monroe is partnering with the zoo through stuffing eggs, helping with booths, and working some of the concessions. The Easter Bunny himself will also be making an appearance and taking pictures with kids.

Guests are encouraged to arrive early to ensure that they make their egg hunt and to enjoy the rest of  the zoo while they are there. Zoo keepers will be out with some of the animals and the splash pad will be open. Admission is $7.
