Love And Laughs in "Shrek: The Musical"

Jay Curtis

Fairy tale characters come to life onstage in the Strauss Youth Academy for the Arts production of Shrek: The Musical.

SYAA Executive Director Walter Allen says 62 youth are part of the full production.  "This crew has put in 120 hours of rehearsal in the past couple weeks for this show," said Allen.  "It's been exciting to see them not only grow their own characters, but relationships in working together as a team," he added.

The musical was adapted over five years ago from the motion picture.  "The score of the musical has a similar pop or rock feel as the movie, there's plenty of fun and laughs throughout the show," said Allen.

Public performances begin Saturday, February 21 with shows at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., and continue Sunday, February 22 at 3 p.m., Saturday, February 28 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., and Sunday, March 1 at 3 p.m. Ticket information is at www.syaaonline.com or 318-812-7922.
