Monroe Symphony Adds Sound to the Silent

Monroe Symphony Orchestra Facebook
Since 1971 the Monroe Symphony Orchestra has provided live, symphonic music of high artistic quality for the education and enjoyment of the people of Northeast Louisiana.

Saturday, December  10th at the Monroe Civic Center the silent film, The Snowman, will come to life with help from the Monroe Symphony Orchestra and the Monroe Symphony Chorus.

Howard Blake's The Snowman, is the well known Christmas story of a boy who builds a snowman that comes to life. The Monroe Symphony is adding its own twist on this movie through sound. The first half of the movie will have the orchestra's music behind it helping tell the story, while the second half of the movie will be accompanied by the chorus.

At 6 p.m. the ever-busy Santa and Mrs.Claus will make an appearance, and children will get the chance to make Christmas crafts. The Monroe Symphony promotes a family atmosphere for people of all ages to enjoy the music of the season.

More information on all that the Monroe Symphony has to offer can be found here.
