Tuesday night a proposal heads to the Monroe City Council that could result in a 50% price hike for Monroe transit system riders.

Due to budget concerns many routes were scheduled for closure or reduced service. After a public forum many riders say they would pay more to keep the service.

An adult fare will go from $1.00 to $1.50 and the day pass will increase from $2.50 to $3.75.
