Forecasters at the National Weather Service are predicting winter weather will move into the region Monday night and into Tuesday morning. An Arctic cold front will bring extreme cold after sunset on Monday. Rain will transition to sleet and snow. 1/2 to 2" of snow are possible with 2-3" in northwest Louisiana and southwest Arkansas.

Travel could become difficult because of slushy roadways and bridges.  Temps won't get back above freezing until Wednesday afternoon. The system will produce temperatures low as 15 degrees.

Another system will move through the area Thursday and Friday and could produce a wintry mix in central Louisiana.
