State Police Urge Public To Stay Home, Stay Safe

KEDM

Louisiana State Police are urging the public to stay home in light of icy road conditions.  Public Information Officer Michael Reichardt says ice has created hazardous road conditions on many roads in the area.

"Icing is the biggest issue across all roads this morning," said Reichardt.  He says what's called 'black ice' is also seen in many places.  The condition is where water freezes on asphalt surfaces that catches motorists by surprise, often causing overreaction by drivers.

Reichardt says police continue to monitor highways and I-20 as more precipitation is expected tonight into early Wednesday morning.
