Authorities say a 14-year-old boy who's accused of shooting his 15-year-old friend with a stolen gun has been arrested.

St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff Mike Tregre told Nola.com/The Times-Picayune the boy was shot once in the chest Monday and taken to a hospital, where he's listed in stable condition.

Tregre says the 14-year-old told authorities he and his friend had been "goofing off" prior to the shooting. Authorities say the 15-year-old shocked him with a stun gun and the younger teen responded by shooting him.

Tregre says the gun was reported stolen and authorities are investigating whether the stun gun was also stolen.

The 14-year-old has been charged with several offenses, including attempted second-degree murder and simple burglary of a motor vehicle. It's unclear if he has a lawyer.
