TEXAS HOUSE BILL - 6: A North Carolina-style "bathroom bill" in Texas won preliminary approval Tuesday in the state Senate over the objections of big businesses including Amazon and American Airlines. After a long debate, the Texas Senate voted 21-to-10 in favor of Senate Bill 6. It would bar transgender people from using the restroom of their choice at publicly-owned facilities. Republican State Senator Lois KolKhorst of Brenham is the sponsor. She says bill supporters don’t believe that Transgender people themselves would target women in bathrooms but that predators take advantage of open policies.
