A train collided with an 18-wheeler at an intersection in the town of Mer Rouge early Thursday.
Morehouse Parish sheriff’s deputies say the incident occurred at US Highway 165 and Louisiana 2 just after 6 a.m., when the semi-truck got hung up on the tracks. The driver was able to get out of the vehicle and no injuries were reported.
Sheriff Mike Tubbs says there were no hazardous materials involved with either the truck or train, so the area has not been evacuated. He says the intersection remains closed, as some of the trailer’s contents littered the area.
The accident remains under investigation.
