Uber is in multiple Louisiana markets.

The Monroe City Council approved a ridesharing ordinance at the last council meeting. The new rules will make it easier for companies like Uber and Lyft to do business in Monroe.

KEDM reached out to both Uber and Lyft to see if ridsharing is in our future. Uber responded with the following statement from Uber Louisiana General Manager David Brightman.

"We thank Mayor Mayo and the Monroe City Council for passing a thoughtful, pro-consumer ridesharing ordinance. With this modern framework, Monroe residents will soon have access to safe, reliable rides and flexible work opportunities at the push of a button. As we look forward to serving the Monroe community, we call upon the Louisiana Legislature to act next session by passing one clear set of rules for ridesharing in Louisiana - just as 44 states across the country have done"

KEDM received no response from Lytf.
