Webber: District Prepared For Challenges and Change

KEDM

Ouachita Parish School Superintendent Bob Webber says the district is prepared for challenges and changes that lie ahead.  Webber addressed members of the West Monroe-West Ouachita Chamber of Commerce in it’s annual Focus on Education luncheon Tuesday.

He says, "school systems across the state continue to deal with issues like Common Core and teacher evaluations."  Webber acknowledges there is concern with teacher retirement, as the state deals with budget woes and juggles a number of policy changes affecting the classroom.

Webber, who retires at the end of June, says the district is in a good position as current assistant superintendent Don Coker has been named to succeed him.  Webber is confident in a smooth transition saying Coker’s selection gives the system someone familiar to all phases of district operations and stability for it’s future.
