Youth Take Center Stage for Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat

Saturday, February 25th is the opening of the Strauss Youth Academy for the Arts's latest production, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. This musical performance follows the story of the biblical character Joseph and his 11 brothers.

The commonly known story of Joseph from Genesis, often referred to as the 'coat of many colors' story, follows Joseph's life after his brothers sell him into slavery.

"It's the story of redemption for the brothers, and shows how Joseph deals with this hardship in his life," says Walter Allen, SYAA executive director.

The play known to be bright and colorful, and its overall theme of forgiveness. Both make the production a family friendly show.

According to Allen, the music features quite a bit of variety. "You have the cowboy song, you have a tango, you have a tap number, a 60's go-go number. It's just so much fun, and it's not taking itself too seriously."

As usual, the Strauss is always buzzing with activity. The Strauss Youth Academy for the Arts next upcoming show will be Charlotte's Web April 28- May 7, and registration for SYAA's summer workshops is now open.

Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat opens Saturday, February 25th at 2 p.m. It will be shown twice on Saturday at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. and once on Sunday at 3 p.m. and will follow this schedule again the next weekend. Tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for students. More information can be foundhere. Tickets are available online.
