Stepping Up Against Alzheimer's

Jul 14, 2017

Tuesday July 18, the Walk to End Alzheimer's is holding a team recruitment party at 6:30 p.m. at Azalea Estates Assisted Living for people interested in helping with the walk in November.

The Walk to End Alzheimer's will be held November 4. This organization raises awareness about Alzheimer's as well as funds to find a cure to this disease. Alzheimer's is the sixth leading cause of death in the United States, and an estimated 85,000 people are diagnosed with this disease in Louisiana alone.

Spreading Alzheimer's Awareness

With over 5 million cases, Alzheimer's disease is the sixth leading cause of death in the United States.

Despite this sobering statistic, many people don't know a lot of definitive information about the disease, or are afraid to get tested. The Louisiana Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association is working to change this fact. Representatives travel across the Twin Cities this month to spread information in honor of Alzheimer's Awareness month.

Paramount Health Care sponsors a unique fundraiser to support local initiatives for Alzheimer's awareness.

The  Rhythm and Wine for Alzheimer's Wine Pull is a fundraiser to support the northern Louisiana chapter of the  Alzheimer's Association. Bottles of wine  will be raffled off by various community sponsors.

Proceeds from the event will fund the Walk to End Alzheimer's® this fall. The wine pull was inspired by personal experiences that Alana Babb and Kelly Green share with Alzheimer's.
