A 27-year-old Mansura man was arrested for distribution of child pornography on Wednesday. Dustin Novo is being held at the Avoyelles Parish Detention Center on a 100,000 dollar bond. State Police spokesperson Scott Moreau says deputies were tipped off about a month ago.


A warrant for Novo’s residence was served, and after a search of the premises, he was arrested and charged.


Moreau says is encouraging anyone with information about possible cases of child pornography should report it authorities.

Four people have been arrested in the death of a Louisiana man who police say was lured into a trap.  

An Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office release Monday says 35-year-old Jason Giles, 38-year-old Joseph Oncale, 35-year-old Mark Forbes and 28-year-old Fallon Gautreau were each arrested on charges of first-degree murder and attempted armed robbery in the death of 48-year-old Brian Long, who was found Sunday. Forbes is also charged with attempted armed robbery.  

A Louisiana man has pleaded not guilty to charges he scammed investors and banks out of more than $96 million in a scheme that allegedly included his use of a disguise and a professional makeup artist. 

David deBerardinis remained free on bond following his arraignment Monday at the federal courthouse in Shreveport.

 The 56-year-old businessman wasn't arrested after his Jan. 25 indictment on four counts of wire fraud and one count of attempted bank fraud.

A West Monroe Man driving drunk with an open container told a Louisiana State trooper that he was "Ubering"  on his way to pick up his next rider during a traffic stop.

Last Thursday, around 1:15 a.m., a trooper noticed a red Dodge Charger drifting from lane to lane and off the shoulders on North Sixth Street in Monroe. When the trooper approached the vehicle, the driver, Mark Brandon Walker, was holding a phone out the window showing driving directions and navigation.

Driver Caught With More Than 100 MDMA Pills, Marijuana

Deputies have charged a man found to be in possession of more than 100 ecstasy pills and more than 92 grams of marijuana.

The Houma Courier reports 36-year-old Rahmoad Lee Thigpen, of Baton Rouge, was arrested Monday after Lafourche Parish Sheriff's deputies pulled Thigpen over just after midnight, smelled burning marijuana and searched his car.

Police: Man Whipped Son For Being Suspended From School

Baton Rouge police say a 38-year-old man is accused of whipping his son with a belt in an elementary school teachers' lounge because the boy had been suspended.

The Advocate quotes a police report as saying Edward Humphrey was arrested Friday on a charge of cruelty to a juvenile.

Police say the incident allegedly happened Nov. 8 at Claiborne Elementary School, and an arrest warrant was issued Nov. 16.

A University of Louisiana Monroe student has been arrested by the ULM Police Department in connection with allegations of raping a fellow student. Samuel Alan Hudgens, an 18 year old student from Pollock, was arrested after a female ULM student went to authorities.

Man Accused Chasing Teens Who Were Toilet-Papering Homes

Authorities say a Louisiana homeowner who's accused of arming himself and chasing down high school students who were toilet-papering homes has been arrested.

Mandeville Police Chief Gerald Sticker told news outlets that Craig Scott was arrested Thursday and charged with aggravated assault with a firearm and obstruction of a roadway. It's unclear if he has a lawyer.

Authorities in Louisiana say a 1-year-old girl died after being hit by a car backing out of a driveway, and the driver has been arrested. 

 East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Casey Rayborn Hicks tells The Advocate the toddler suffered serious injuries and wasn't breathing when emergency medics arrived at the scene Saturday afternoon. She died Sunday morning. 

 Hicks says 39-year-old Barry Laphand told deputies he'd been drinking alcohol and didn't realize he'd run over the girl. 

Call Led To Arrest Of Alleged Serial Killer

A law enforcement official says a serial killer was arrested in Louisiana last week after he called a sheriff's office and claimed responsibility for a string of shootings that killed three men and wounded a fourth.

 The official, who spoke only on condition of anonymity because the investigation is ongoing, told The Associated Press that 36-year-old Ryan Sharpe wasn't a suspect in the four shootings until he called the East Feliciana Parish Sheriff's Office last Wednesday and identified himself as the killer.
