Police in Ruston are investigating a fatal accident that involved a school bus. 

Police believe the deceased male was sitting in the roadway, and the driver of the school bus was unable to see him. The victim was killed by the Lincoln Parish Bus.  The preliminary investigation shows the school bus was traveling eastbound on Second Avenue and was turning southbound onto Gill Street. Five Ruston police units were on the scene of the accident.

An unrestrained man lost his life this morning after the vehicle he was driving traveled off the road and began to overturn. 

Shortly after 5:30 a.m., Louisiana State Police Troop F responded to a single-vehicle crash on LA Hwy 596 just north of Lake Providence. The preliminary investigation revealed a 1999 Lexus SUV, driven by 65-year-old Willie Williams of Lake Providence, was traveling north on LA Hwy 596 when the vehicle traveled off the right side of the road. Williams then overcorrected his vehicle, traveled across both lanes, entered a ditch, and began overturning. 

Louisiana State Police say two men died when their car crash head-on in the Webster Parish school bus. 

Trooper Matt Harris said in a news release the bus driver and the 47 students that were on board the bus were not injured in Wednesday's crash.

 The accident happened on Louisiana Highway 2 near Shongaloo 

Harris identified the victims as the car's driver, 35-year-old Freddy Bryant of Shongaloo, and his passenger, 29-year-old Gary Matlock of Plain Dealing.
