13-Year Sentence In Child Porn Case

A New Orleans judge has sentenced a man to 13 years in prison on child pornography charges.

The Orleans Parish District Attorney's Office says in a news release that Dan Pittman Jr. had been convicted in February on 10 child pornography counts involving victims under the age of 13. He was sentenced Tuesday by state district Judge Arthur Hunter.

Prosecutors said Pittman was arrested at his New Orleans home in September 2015 after a six-month investigation by the Louisiana Attorney General's Cyber Crime unit.

A 27-year-old Mansura man was arrested for distribution of child pornography on Wednesday. Dustin Novo is being held at the Avoyelles Parish Detention Center on a 100,000 dollar bond. State Police spokesperson Scott Moreau says deputies were tipped off about a month ago.


A warrant for Novo’s residence was served, and after a search of the premises, he was arrested and charged.


Moreau says is encouraging anyone with information about possible cases of child pornography should report it authorities.

 A former Vermilion Parish middle school teacher was sentenced last week to 70 years in prison for making and possessing child pornography. /

A Lafayette man was sentenced last week to 168 months in prison for enticing a minor into sending images of child pornography online.

A former Breaux Bridge Police officer pleaded guilty to receiving sexually explicit images.

Craig David Jr., 29, of Breaux Bridge, La. pleaded guilty before U.S. Magistrate  Judge Patrick Hanna to one count of receiving child pornography. The plea will become final when accepted by U.S. District Judge S. Maurice Hicks. According to the guilty plea, David received child pornography starting in January 2017 using an electronic device.

David faces 20 years in prison, lifetime supervised release and a $250,000 fine.

West Monroe man was sentenced Wednesday to 151 months in prison for receiving child pornography.

John D. Owen, 30, of West Monroe, La, was sentenced on one count of receiving child pornography. He was also sentenced to 10 years of supervised release and is required to register as a sex offender.


Resulting from an ongoing investigation by the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Special Victim’s Unit, investigators have arrested Tony A. Free, Jr., age 23, of Downsville, Louisiana. 

The investigation revealed the suspect allegedly engaged in inappropriate communications and sent inappropriate photographs to a Ouachita Parish juvenile. Tony Free is currently being held in Ouachita Correctional Center on one count of computer aided solicitation of a minor, one count of violation of a protective Order, and nine counts of pornography involving juveniles.


On September 22, 2016, the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit, working in conjunction with the FBI, executed a search warrant at a West Monroe residence as part of joint child pornography investigation. 

Child pornography videos were found on a cellular phone owned by John David Owen, age 29, of West Monroe. 

Owen was arrested and is currently being held at OCC on 5 counts of Pornography Involving Juveniles. 

The investigation is continuing.

Federal prosecutors say a 28-year-old Delhi man has pleaded guilty to producing child pornography. 

U.S. Attorney Stephanie Finley said in a news release Daniel Brown entered his plea Monday before U.S. District Judge Robert James.

 Finley says Brown used the Internet and Facebook, pretended to be a teenager, and directed an out-of-state 12-year-old child to produce and send him child pornography.

She says Brown received the child pornography using his computer in Delhi on Oct. 28, 2014.


James set sentencing for Dec. 5.
