The Northeast Louisiana Workforce Development Summit is Tuesday, April 24 at 8:30 a.m. The goal of the summit is to build and strengthen relationships between the business industry and education in the Northeast Louisiana region.

The summit begins with opening remarks from Courtney Hornsby, the president of the West Monroe-West Ouachita Chamber of Commerce. Afterward, speakers Larry Alexander of the State Department of Education and Paul Helton of the Louisiana Economic Development are presenting the "Importance of Partnerships."

Accounting, CIS, healthcare, and manufacturing are the in-demand career sectors in north Louisiana according to workforce development experts.  KEDM's Policy and a Pint dug into the subject at an open public forum on workforce issues.

Panelists and audience members agreet that the future of our workforce is children. Panelists fielded many questions about STEM education and the educational foundation being laid by our area educators. 

Epps Appointed As Permanent Chancellor of LDCC

The Board of Supervisors approved a recommendation to appoint Dennis Epps as the permanent Chancellor of Louisiana Delta Community College.

Dennis Epps has been the acting chancellor at LDCC, and is now ready to take on the role as permanent chancellor.

"Dennis is the right fit for the college and the community it serves. He possesses the needed skill set to address existing challenges, maximize talents, and develop a vision to continue moving the college forward." said Louisiana Community and Technical College System President Monty Sullivan.
