Tuesday July 18, the Walk to End Alzheimer's is holding a team recruitment party at 6:30 p.m. at Azalea Estates Assisted Living for people interested in helping with the walk in November. 

The Walk to End Alzheimer's will be held November 4. This organization raises awareness about Alzheimer's as well as funds to find a cure to this disease. Alzheimer's is the sixth leading cause of death in the United States, and an estimated 85,000 people are diagnosed with this disease in Louisiana alone.

Thursday July 20th, KEDM and Tonore's Wine Cellar are hosting a Craft Festiv-ALE beer tasting from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Tonore's for a twenty dollar donation to KEDM.

This craft beer tasting will include local, national, and imported brands. Russell Kicey, owner of Tonore's, shares that there will be beers that guest are familiar with and some they may have never heard of before. There will be appetizers served along with the beers.

The Monroe Symphony League is holding its book fair Saturday, June 3rd, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, June 4th,  1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., and again the following weekend June 9th and 10th.

This year the Ronald McDonald House is holding its 26th annual Big Bass Tournament. June 10th and 11th, the community is invited to fish the Ouachita River for their chance at winning some of the many prizes offered throughout the competition.

Saturday May 27th, the Chennault Aviation Museum is kicking off Memorial Day Weekend with the 5th annual Run for the Red, White, and Blue. This 1k fun run and 5k run/walk will begin at 8:00 a.m. at the Chennault Aviation Museum.

The Monroe Quota Club is a local branch of Quota International that meets twice a month to discuss projects to help serve the community. Quota means to share, and this year,the Monroe Quota Club's annual fundraiser will be sharing something big.

The Children's Coalition of Northeast Louisiana is holding its annual Dragon Boat Festival on Saturday, May 13. The Festival will be held on Bayou Desiard from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Dragon Boat Festival is the biggest fundraiser the Children's Coalition holds throughout the year. This year over twenty boats in the bayou are participating in the race. The opening ceremony for the race is at 11 a.m., and the race begins at 12 p.m. Guests are encouraged to come early for the Community Health Fair that begins at 9 a.m. with a free fun run.

Sunday, May 7th, the Northeast Louisiana Arts Council is holding its twentieth annual Blend of the Bayou fundraiser. This event will be held at the home of Dr. Walter and Sue Sartor at 2110 Island Drive from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Saturday April 29th, the Northeast American Red Cross will celebrate its 100th anniversary with its 20th annual Red Cross Bash. This event will be held from 7:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. at The Monroe Regional Airport Hangar 9.

Saturday, April 8th, the University of Louisiana Monroe's Wesley Foundation is holding its fifth annual Golf Tournament fundraiser at Black Bear Golf Course in Delhi. Lunch will be provided at 11:30 a.m. and the tournament will begin at 1 p.m. 

The Golf Tournament will include competitions for longest drive and closest to the pin along with prizes for first and second place teams. There will also have mulligans for sale as part of 'mulligans for missions'. The money earned from this mulligans will go directly to support student mission trips.
