Show Care Through A Cookbook This Holiday Season

The time has come for the annual Southern Living Holiday Cookbook to return to Dillard's. The cookbook will be sold for only ten dollars, and it is filled with holiday and year round recipes.  

As always the proceeds from this cookbook go to help fund the Ronald McDonald House in Monroe. Monroe's house has been serving families since November 1985, and is the smallest community to have a Ronald McDonald House.

The Northeast Louisiana Arts Council is continuing its long standing tradition of Brown Bag Concerts this fall. Every Wednesday of October from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Ana Gray Noe Park there will be a free concert put on for the the community.

Big Bass Tournament Brings Fishing, Fun, and Prizes

This year the Ronald McDonald House is holding its 26th annual Big Bass Tournament. June 10th and 11th, the community is invited to fish the Ouachita River for their chance at winning some of the many prizes offered throughout the competition.

Brown Bag Concerts Return for April

Every Wednesday in April, the Northeast Louisiana Arts Council will be presenting the Brown Bag Concert Series in Anna Gray Noe Park. These concerts will be held from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.

The goal of the Brown Bag series is to provide community members free entertainment through other community members. The concerts allow local artists to showcase their talents. The line up for the month of April includes many fan favorite artists.

The Ronald McDonald House

The Ronald McDonald House hosts a test drive fundraiser on Tuesday, July 12. 

From 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. community members will be able to test drive a luxury BMW, Mercedes, or Audi at Hixson Autoplex. For every mile driven, a donation will be given to the Monroe Ronald McDonald House.

The Ronald McDonald House is an organization that helps families facing serious medical conditions. The house itself often serves as a home base for families from out of town receiving vital treatments at area hospitals.

Offering the promise of fishing and cash prizes, the Ronald McDonald House Big Bass Tournament returns for the 25th year.

The context moves to a new weekend this year, June 11 and 12, offering a more time for the Ouachita River to shed more excess water from recent floods. This coincides with "Fish Free Weekend" during which anglers are not required to possess a Louisiana Fishing License.

The Northeast Louisiana Arts Council helps squeeze a little musical merriment into the Wednesday lunch break during the month of April with the Brown Bag Concert Series .  With chairs, cookies, and a beverage provided, the free concerts are a great way to see local artist perform even in the midst of a busy schedule.

Southern Living Cookbook and Dillards are no strangers to helping The Ronald McDonald House.

They've been collaborating for the past six years, selling limited edition cookbooks and giving part of the proceeds to RMH's worldwide.

The RMH is a non-profit organization formed in 1974, with the mission of helping families during the recovery process of their sick children.

This year's limited edition of Southern Living Cookbook comes with a twist. It's two books in one, with over 250 holiday and year-round recipes.  It's available at all Dillards locations. 

Brown Bag Concerts Bring Mix of Local Talent

Local musicians share their talent with community members on Wednesdays in April as part of the Northeast Louisiana Arts Council Brown Bag Concert Series.

Council member Georgia Street says the series highlights a variety of musical styles.  "It brings folk, jazz, alternative,country, and contemporary music from some incredible musicians in our area," said Street.

The series kicks off with the duo of Tommy Fields and Tyler Christiana on Wednesday, April 8.

The concert is held at Anna Gray Noe Park across from St. Francis Medical Center.
