The National Weather Service in Shreveport has issued a Lake Wind Advisory, which is in effect from 9 AM this morning to 7 PM CDT this evening.                                                                                                                
A tight pressure gradient will persist across the region today in wake of a cold frontal passage Monday evening Northwest winds will increase to 15 to 20 mph with gusts to 30 mph by mid-morning, and continue through the afternoon before diminishing quickly after sunset.

A Lake Wind Advisory has been issued across a four-state area. A tight pressure gradient between surface low pressure to the North and surface high pressure to the Southeast will produce strong and gusty Southwest winds of 15-25 MPH gusts to 25-30 MPH today.

this evening. 

A tight pressure gradient associated with surface high
pressure building into the region and a departing surface low
pressure system moving across the Plains and Middle Mississippi
Valley will produce Westerly winds of 15-25 MPH with higher
gusts to 25-35 MPH

A Hard Freeze Warning is in effect for much of the KEDM listening area for Wednesday night.

Freezing temperatures will continue across much of the region today, then plummeting shortly after sunset tonight back into the teens and possibly upper single digits in some outlying and more rural areas. * TIMING...9 PM tonight through 9 AM Thursday. * IMPACT...Take precautions to cover exposed pipes and bring pets indoors as well as protect any sensitive outdoor plants.

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 AM CST THIS
MORNING...

* WHAT... light to moderate rainfall has been slow transitioning
to a freezing rain or snow or sleet mix, as temperatures
continue to drop to subfreezing temperatures. Although areas
that experiencing above freezing temperatures may be
experiencing rainfall, as temperatures continue to fall
throughout the morning, it will have the chance to transition
to a wintry mix. Some areas such as southwest Arkansas could see
ice accumulations of around 0.01 inches.

The National Weather Service in Shreveport has issued a Hard
Freeze Warning, which is in effect from 10 PM this evening to
10 AM CST Wednesday. 

An arctic airmass will remain in place today and tonight,
which will allow temperatures to fall into the lower and middle
teens again across all of the Ark La Tex. 

Near freezing temperatures late this afternoon will fall into the lower and mid teens overnight. Temperatures will climb back to near or above freezing by mid to late morning Wednesday. 

Man Fatally Shot Near Downtown Jonesboro, No Arrests

 Police in Jonesboro say a man was fatally shot in a street just east of the city's downtown.

 Police Cpl. Dave McDaniel says in a news release that the body of 28-year-old Dewayne Turner of Blytheville was found shortly before 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

 McDaniel says Turner's body was found in the street by officers who were responding to reports of gunfire.

 No arrests have been announced and McDaniel says no suspects have been identified. 

The former mayor of a Louisiana city has won a new trial on a malfeasance charge.

Leslie Thompson is the former mayor of Jonesboro in north Louisiana. He was convicted in 2013 on three counts of malfeasance. In one count, prosecutors said he illegally denied the state legislative auditor access to Jonesboro's financial records. Two other counts said he used city money to pay benefits to people who weren't eligible for them.

On Monday, the Louisiana Supreme Court ruled there was insufficient evidence for conviction on the two counts dealing with benefits.

northeast Texas, including the following areas, in Louisiana, 
Bienville, Bossier, Caddo, Caldwell, Claiborne, De Soto, 
Jackson, La Salle, Lincoln, Ouachita, Red River, Union, and 
Webster. In northeast Texas, Panola.

Heat Advisory Continues Through 7 p.m.

A Heat Advisory will be in effect through 7 pm today across the Four State Region which will include Southeast Oklahoma, Southwest and South Central Arkansas, Northwest and North Central Louisiana and East and Northeast Texas.

The combination of hot afternoon temperatures in the middle to upper 90s and humid conditions will result in Heat Indices of 105-109 degrees.

Heat related illnesses will become possible for those involved in outdoor work and activities, especially when in direct sunlight.
