BASF To Expand Chemical Production In Louisiana

Gov. John Bel Edwards and BASF Senior Vice President ,Tom Yura, announced the company will invest in the development of its methylene diphenyl diisocyanate, or MDI, production at its Louisiana chemical complex in Geismar, Louisiana.

Governor John Bel Edwards announced that two-thousand new jobs will be created as DXC Technology will open a digital transformation center in January of 2018 in New Orleans. Edwards says this project has been in the works for over two years and is a great addition to the state.


Area Development magazine has awarded Louisiana a 2015 Silver Shovel Award for posting one of the best economic development performances in the U.S. during the past year.

The honor was based on 10 of the state’s most significant projects. The 2015 Gold & Silver Shovel Awards recognize states with the most significant impact from their 10 leading investment and job creation projects during 2014.

This is the sixth consecutive year that Louisiana has won Area Development’s Silver Shovel Award, following previous awards in 2010 through 2014.
