East Baton Rouge District Attorney Hillar Moore released the findings in the 2016 officer-involved shooting death of 48-year-old Terrell Walker. Cops believe Walker shot and killed his girlfriend on Essen Lane, then fled. Walker was later shot and killed by deputies after an extensive manhunt. Moore played several 911 calls from the incident on Essen Lane.

 

Louisiana High School Football Player Shot To Death

Louisiana police say a high-school football player has been shot and killed.

News media report that Springhill police identified him as 17-year-old Jaylen Thomas of North Webster High School.

Police Chief Will Lynd tells KTBS-TV and KSLA-TV that at least 16 shots were fired from a 45-caliber pistol Monday night, and police are looking for an adult suspect.

He says the shooting was behind Brown Upper Middle School and near Harrison Chapel Baptist Church, and tells KTBS that it was just out of range of the church's security cameras.

Louisiana Congressman Ralph Abraham says the Air Force failed to do its job. Preliminary reports say the Texas church gunman, Devin Kelly, should have been added to a list of people unable to own guns. A background check should have caught a military conviction for assault and aggravated assault that made him ineligible to own any guns.  Kelly was discharged for bad conduct in the military in 2014. 

Teenager Accused Of Shooting His Friend With Stolen Gun

Authorities say a 14-year-old boy who's accused of shooting his 15-year-old friend with a stolen gun has been arrested.

St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff Mike Tregre told Nola.com/The Times-Picayune the boy was shot once in the chest Monday and taken to a hospital, where he's listed in stable condition.

Tregre says the 14-year-old told authorities he and his friend had been "goofing off" prior to the shooting. Authorities say the 15-year-old shocked him with a stun gun and the younger teen responded by shooting him.

1 Dead, 4 Hurt After Shooting In Lacombe

At least one person is dead and four others were injured after a shooting at a home in the Lacombe area.

The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office said Saturday that the shooting happened Friday about 9:30 p.m.

When deputies arrived, they discovered the victims, including the deceased man, who is believed to have forced his way into the home. Four others - three men and a woman - were also shot. They were each transported to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.

New Orleans Police: 1 Man Dead After Shooting At House

New Orleans police say a shooting in a house has left one man dead.

Police spokesman Aaron Looney tells NOLA.com/The Times- Picayune that the shooting took place on Saturday just before 7:30 p.m. Responding officers found the 38-year-old man inside of the home. He had been shot several times and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities say the shooting occurred after the victim got into an argument with his cousin. Police say the cousin pulled out a weapon and shot the victim several times.

Further details have not been released.

Settlement Would Award Baton Rouge Protesters Up To $1000

A federal judge is scheduled to hold a hearing Friday on whether to approve a class-action settlement that would award up to $1,000 in cash to nearly 80 protesters who were arrested after a deadly police shooting in Louisiana.

 Several lawsuits have accused law enforcement agencies in Baton Rouge of violating the constitutional rights of protesters who were arrested after the July 2016 shooting death of Alton Sterling, a 37-year-old black man.

Woman Found Shot To Death In Her Bed

FRANKLINTON, La. (AP) - Authorities say a Louisiana woman was found shot to death in her bed. 

 News outlets report 40-year-old Donna Arceneaux was found in her bed Tuesday. 

 The Washington Parish Sheriff's Office said in a news release that two of the victim's friends were not able to contact her and went to her residence. When they arrived, they found Arceneaux with a shotgun wound to the chest. 

 Authorities say the fatality is being treated as an unclassified death.

Update: 10:52 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26:

An arrest has been made in reference to the double homicide that occurred on the campus of Grambling State University that claimed the lives of Earl Andrews and Monquiarious Caldwell.

Jaylin M. Wayne has been arrested and charged with first degree murder in connection to the shooting deaths of Andrews and Caldwell. Andrews and Wayne were both GSU students.

  Police say a shooting in Louisiana has injured two children. 

 Natchitoches police say in a Facebook post the 5-year-old and 3-year-old were hospitalized Sunday with injuries that are not life-threatening. Police had received numerous reports of people shooting at each other shortly before 5 p.m. 

 The 5-year-old was shot in the calf and the 3-year-old received a foot injury. 

 Investigators found that several apartments and three vehicles were damaged in the incident. Detectives searched the scene and have identified suspects, but no arrests have been made.
