The University of Louisiana at Monroe 2017-18 academic and athletic year takes off with The Pursuit, Thursday Aug. 24 at Fant-Ewing Coliseum.

The Pursuit is named for the Curtiss P-40 Warhawk pursuit fighter planes flown by Gen. Claire Lee Chennault and the Flying Tigers in World War II. ULM’s Warhawk mascot was inspired by Chennault and his group of pilots and planes.

Hoffman, 3 Others Honored in ULM Hall of Fame

The ULM Letterman “L” Club’s Hall of Fame welcomes four new members this fall. The 2015 class includes former football player Vincent Brisby, former basketball player Larry Saulters, former baseball player Andy Davis, and longtime broadcaster Frank Hoffmann.

The newest selections will join the Hall of Fame during induction ceremonies on Saturday, Oct. 17. The induction brunch is planned for 10 a.m., in the ULM Library Conference Center, located on the seventh floor of the ULM library.


In conjunction with the Maroon and Gold Spring Football Game, the University of Louisiana at Monroe’s Alumni Association will host the La’ Louisianne Crawfish Boil from 1 to 4 p.m., Saturday, March 21, in the new end zone area under the scoreboard of Malone Stadium.

Attendees will get a first-class view during the football game, which begins at 1:30 p.m. Following the game, crawfish will be served, and guests can attend an autograph session with players and coaches.

  The event includes all you can eat crawfish, corn, potatoes, and beverages.
