University of Louisiana Monroe

What a party! Even with some unpredictable weather, we had a great time of food and enjoyment.

The KEDM Director's Gala for "RENT" at the University of Louisiana Monroe was held Friday night, March 18 from 5 to 7 p.m. before the curtain of "RENT" at 7:30. Click here for our original post about the event. It was such a pleasure to partner with the ULM School of Visual and Performing Arts.

Congratulations to Gerald Stinson, winner of the Best of the Best Books of Louisiana drawing held on April 23, 2016!!

KEDM will resume the Spring Campaign April 19-23.

KEDM featured live performances of seasonal favorites featuring young artists in  Musical Merriment, Wednesday and Thursday December 9th and 10th. Students from area high schools and universities performed at the KEDM studios throughout the day.

Vocal Vibes host Deborah Chandler and Bandscape host Jason Rinehart served as hosts for the special broadcasts.

“Students had been working on selections full of merriment and cheer. Wow! They were ready to perform on KEDM! There was something for everyone,” explains Chandler.

KEDM Receives Grant To Preserve Local Blues Heritage

KEDM Public Radio received a $2,000 grant from Entergy Charitable Foundation for the production of a new weekly radio series calledByway Bluesbeginning in January 2016.

The grant will allow KEDM to preserve the musical and cultural heritage of Louisiana's blues by recording musicians and artists from northeast Louisiana.

Byway Blues will share the lives and musical accomplishments of famous artists such as Blind Joe Reynolds, Mable John, Doug Duffey, and many more.

The holidays bring a sense of community like no other time of the year. KEDM is gearing up for the holidays with Policy and a Pint: A Season of Serving on November 17 at 5:30 p.m.

The event features expert discussion of some of the the area's key issues and opportunities to serve throughout the community, giving the most important gift of all. Listen closely as panelists discuss issues like homelessness, elderly, and food needs during the holiday season.

Meet the Candidates

Fall elections are right around the corner and not just for the Louisiana Governor's race. Local races directly impact northeast Louisiana.

KEDM and the West Monroe-West Ouachita Chamber of Commerce will host a candidates' "Meet and Greet" on Tuesday, September 29 at the West Monroe Convention Center from 5 :30 to 7 p.m.

The event is free and open to the public.

KEDM Public Radio begins its Fall Membership Campaign with a two hour special celebrating local blues legends. Byway Blues airs Friday, September 18, from 1 to 3 p.m.

Hosted by Louisiana blues historians Lesli and Kirby Rambin, the program showcases northeast Louisiana’s rich musical heritage with area musicians such as National Blues Hall of Fame Inductee Doug Duffey. Duffey speaks about his new 11 piece band, Louisiana Soul Revival.
