The University of Louisiana Monroe Alumni Association has events for March and April to celebrate Alumnis. Sarah Sierveld, the director of Alumni Affairs, shares some insight on the upcoming events from "Martini Monday Mingle" to Wine Over Water.
"Martini Monday Mingle" takes place on March 6 for the College of Business and Social Sciences alumni and on April 3 for alumni of the College of Health Sciences. The Lotus Club sponsors and provides a location for both days at 4 to 6 p.m. at 130 Desiard Street on the 9th floor.
The Women's Symposium partners with ULM on March 14 from 12 to 4:30 p.m. in Bayou Pointe. Sierveld explains the event is not just for women but for all in the workforce, especially those looking for mentorship opportunities. The Symposium will also honor women of northeast Louisiana.
The ULM Softball team hosts the Troy University Trojans on March 25 in the ULM Softball Complex at 2 p.m. ULM Alumni hosts a Softball After Party in the tailgate area next to the ULM Softball Complex entrance.
The ULM Baseball team is competing with the Marshall University Thundering Herd on April 2 in the ULM Baseball Stadium. ULM Alumni hosts a Baseball tailgate in the right field baseline patio. Active members get in free and non-active members require $10 to join.
The ULM Alumni Association is hosting "Wine Over Water" at the University of Louisiana Monroe on April 13 on the bridge spanning Bayou Desiard.
The event has two parts; the Patron Party and the Bridge Party. The Patron Party will be held from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. on the 7th floor of the ULM Library. Tickets include hors d'oeuvres, event wine glasses, and attendance to the Wine Over Water Bridge Party. Entertainment will be provided. The Bridge Party includes food sampling from local restaurants, wine tasting, beer tasting, a commemorative wine glass, boat rides on Bayou DeSiard, and live entertainment.
The attire for the event is dressy casual. Proceeds from the event support the "Spirit Of the Warhawk" scholarship, started by the Ouachita Parish Alumni Chapter, Alumni Chapters and Clubs, and the ULM Alumni Association. Another featured event is the Cork Pull in which guests purchase a cork for $25 and take home a mystery bottle of wine that is valued at $25 or more. The Cork Pull also supports the ULM Alumni Association.
