The charming story of Figaro in The Barber of Seville is presented by the Louisiana Opera this weekend.
The classic opera shares the tale of Figaro and his effort to help out his friend Count Almaviva, who is taken with the lovely Rosina. In his opera debut Corey McKern plays the leading role of the barber.
Ron Ulen, in the role of Don Basilio, says the classic opera is known for its comedic charm. "Little bits and pieces that follow through the story, a lot of manipulation and intrigue," said Ulen.
Performances are Friday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Bidenharn Recital Hall at the University of Louisiana at Monroe.
