An Indian film and cultural presentations highlight a Bollywood Movie Night at Palace Park in downtown Monroe Saturday. The program is hosted by the Pacific Asian-American Network, Heritage of India, and Downtown Cinema.
PAAN President Scott Bell says its a collaborative project promoting diversity in the region. "We can essentially help to show, and what Heritage of India wants to have, is being in the community and being a bridge between cultures," said Bell.
Traditional and contemporary Indian dances are featured during the event. There will also be a special performance by Strauss Youth Academy For The Arts troupe. "We'll perform a short program of Shakespeare's "Comedy Of Errors In Space". It presents a story of two sets of identical twins that get separated and later meet up," says SYAA's Cathy Airhart-Webb.
The program begins at 6:30 p.m. at the park, located at the corner of DeSiard and Jackson Street in Monroe.
