Monster Moto, a motorcycle company manufacturing mini bikes and go-karts for children and teens, is moving its headquarters and manufacturing to Ruston.
The project includes a $4 million capital investment as part of a public-private partnership to build a 100,000 square-foot facility at the former site of Ruston's municipal airport.
Ruston Mayor Ronny Walker says it has been some time since the city pursued such a move by a company. "This is the first time in many years we've actively recruited a company to come here. Monster Moto will be very involved with Louisiana Tech and the city," he said.
The move creates 287 direct jobs over the next decade. About the same number of indirect jobs will be created with the deal. Construction is set to begin this summer and scheduled to be operational by the end of the year.
