Union Museum of History and Art is proud to announce it will exhibit 47 original works by the famed Louisiana primitive artist Clementine Hunter from January 25 to March 5. A celebratory opening reception will be held Saturday, Jan. 25, at 1:30 p.m., hosted by the local Grambling State University Alumni group. DeAnna Ellsworth will perform a brief concert and Jackie Hill will portray the artist. The public is cordially invited. The artworks will be on loan from Tom Whitehead of Natchitoches, who was a personal friend of Hunter starting in the 1960s until her death in 1988. He is co-author of the well-known biography, Clementine Hunter: Her Life and Art.

Join the Ouachita Parish 4-H for an evening of delicious foods on November 18th! Members will compete against each other in different categories, and the winners will go on to compete against other parishes in the Northeast Region Cookery on February 6th, 2025. While the dishes are being judged, healthy living activities will be held for all members of the family.

This is the first statewide seed swap and sale put on by the North Louisiana Seed Preservation Program and the LSU AgCenter. The event is Saturday, February 8th, at the Southern Forest Heritage Museum just south of Forest Hill, Louisiana. The swap will run from 9:00 a.m. to around 3:00 p.m. Special guest will be legendary seed saver and artist John Coykendall of Blackberry Farm in Tennessee.
