The Ouachita River Valley Animal League's "Bark In The Park" is Saturday at Forsythe Park.
The 18th annual 5k & 1k fun run benefits the league's mission of assisting those in providing homes and medical care for companion animals.
Board member Melanie Colvin says assistance programs rely on funds from the event to continue services. "We help low-income individuals, as well as shelters and rescues, with vet and medical expeneses. They can apply and we can help with those costs," she said.
Special activities take place during the day including the Blessing Of The Pets at 8:30 a.m. A "barketeria" provides snacks for pets during the event.
The 5k run begins at 8 a.m. Registration is open prior to the race at Forsythe Park.
