Volunteer to Help Others in Storm Cleanup

Thousands of residents of northeast Louisiana have been affected by flooding.

Here are a few opportunities to help:

  • 4 p.m. Friday, First West Thrift Store requests underwear, men's pants.
  • 11 a.m. Friday, Volunteers are needed to fill sand bags at the Ike Hamilton Expo Center, 501 Mane Street.
  • 10:30 a.m. Friday, volunteers are needed in Sterlington to help fill sandbags at Sterlington Water Tower, Hyde Street across from the middle school.
  • 10:30 a.m. Friday, Family Church in West Monroe is cooking meals for first responders. Meeting at 320 Laird Street at 1:30 p.m. to begin food preparation, with delivery at 3:30.
  • 10 a.m. Friday, volunteers are needed at the Louisiana Department of Agriculture building on U.S. 80 to fill and deliver sandbags. Coordination with Jay Mullhearn at 537-9399.
  • White's Ferry Road Church in West Monroe is gathering volunteer work crews: 396-6000.
