Ouachita 101 Welcomes New Residents

Monroe Chamber of Commerce
Transplants to Monroe can see what the area has to offer at the Monroe Chamber's Ouachita 101 event on June 23.

Relocating to a new city can be difficult for both individuals and families.

The Monroe Chamber of Commerce hosts an event to help new residents settle into the area, called "Ouachita 101," Thursday, June 23 from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Century Link Auditorium.

Over 100 local businesses and organizations host booths with a chance to meet representatives from local news agencies, the Northeast Louisiana Arts Council, volunteer groups, the University of Louisiana Monroe and local governments.

"These people really want new residents to feel welcome, and get plugged in," says Chamber President Sue Nicholson.

Resources such as Workforce Development will be on hand to offer help finding employment for spouses, and many youth organizations offer opportunities for children to get involved with a variety of activities.

More information is available by calling the Monroe Chamber of Commerce at 323-3461.
